Some HVAC Terms You Need to Know
Cooling Capacity Also known as the size of the unit. Size is measured in British Thermal Units per hour (BTU/hr) or in “tons”. One ton equals 12,000 BTU/hr.
Efficiency Efficiency describes how much cooling the central air conditioning unit delivers for each watt of electricity used. Efficiency is expressed as the SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating). The minimum SEER for a split system central air conditioner allowed today is 13. The higher the SEER, the more efficient the unit is. The more efficient the unit is, the more you can save on your utility bills. New HVAC systems today are 20 to 40 percent more efficient than the builder grade, minimum efficiency models made even 10 years ago.
Investing in a new, super-efficient HVAC system is investing in your home, but also in your family’s comfort. We offer special financing to help you spread the cost out over several years.
